Eurocamp (European Camping Group) Expands to Over 45,000 Mobile Homes with Vacansoleil Assets Acquisition

Jan 11, 2024 | Press release

[Manchester, UK 09/01/24] – European Camping Group (ECG), better known as his historical consumer brand Eurocamp in the UK, proudly announces the strategic acquisition of Vacansoleil’s assets, significantly expanding its portfolio in the European outdoor accommodation sector. This acquisition includes over 900 mobile homes and 200 safari tents, enhancing ECG’s already impressive offering to 45,000 mobile homes across more than 430 parks throughout Europe.

With Vacansoleil ceasing operations, ECG has adeptly stepped in to acquire these valuable assets, previously spread across over 100 campsites. This strategic move not only enriches ECG’s existing portfolio but also introduces four new parks and one new destination country (Slovenia), marking a significant expansion in the European camping market.

Relief for Campsite Owners

This acquisition brings considerable relief to campsite owners, ensuring the continued vibrancy of these sites and preventing potential vacancies. ECG’s intervention demonstrates its commitment to supporting the camping community and the broader industry.

Rapid and Strategic Expansion

This acquisition is part of ECG’s rapid and strategic expansion, highlighted earlier this year with the acquisition of Vacanceselect. Supported by PAI, a Paris-based private equity partner, ECG continues to make significant strides in the market.

Enhanced Distribution

The newly acquired accommodations will soon be available across ECG’s extensive distribution network, catering to its international clientele. With 45% of its guests coming from outside France, ECG’s broad distribution strategy is tailored to meet the needs of a diverse, global customer base.

Stijn Depraetere, Vice President Development and Contracting commented “ECG has successfully negotiated agreements with the majority of sites where Vacansoleil operated, ensuring that our portfolio of distribution brands, including Eurocamp, Homair and Roan will continue to bring these sought-after destinations to the market.”

“This means that our customers will have access to a vast choice of destinations for mobile home vacations, all under brands known for their strong reputations, exceptional service levels, and consumer protection that guests have come to expect, aligning with the legacy of Vacansoleil.”

As the European leader in outdoor hospitality, European Camping Group offers an unparalleled high-end range of 4/5* campsites in top tourist destinations. With more than 5,000 employees in peak season, 430 camping destinations in 13 countries across Europe, European Camping Group is active in all forms of camping activity: rental of mobile homes or bare pitches, sales of residential mobile homes, distribution platform, central referencing for independent campsites. The group’s clientele is predominantly international: United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Poland, etc. French customers represent 45% of the attendance.
