Aix-en-Provence, 16 May 2025,

ECG, European leader in outdoor hospitality, is proud to announce that it has been named the winner of the Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) “Management of water resources in tourism” by Atout France – the award was given to Homair, its French brand, and was presented in Bercy by Nathalie DELATTRE, Minister of Tourism.

This distinction recognizes ECG’s commitment to the preservation and optimized management of water resources, a crucial issue for the tourism sector and a priority for European Camping Group.

An ambitious project for sustainable tourism

ECG began the project by focussing on six of its campsites located in the Mediterranean area, which is particularly affected by water stress: Marvilla Parks Les Sablines**** campsite (Vendres Plage), Marvilla Parks Le Soleil de la Méditerranée***** campsite (Saint-Cyprien), Marvilla Parks La Marina de Canet**** campsite (Canet-en-Roussillon), Marvilla Parks Les Dunes***** campsite (Torreilles), Marvilla Parks La Chapelle***** campsite (Argelès-sur-Mer) and Marvilla Parks La Falaise**** campsite (Narbonne).

The project benefits from funding through Atout France, within the framework of the Destination France Plan initiated by the State and aims to:

  • Conduct technical audits to identify areas for improvement in water consumption.
  • Detect water networks and sector campsites for better management and reduction of leaks.

These actions are in line with the efforts already deployed by ECG, led by its CSR committee which works to offer outdoor holidays in a preserved environment by limiting the consumption of resources. The actions deployed on the six Marvilla Parks campsites include monitoring water consumption levels, raising awareness about water usage with employees and customers and the implementation of water management procedures and investment in equipment, such as:

  • Consumption monitoring systems
  • Recycling swimming pool water
  • Water-saving systems in accommodation and sanitary facilities
  • Drip irrigation for new plantations

Objectives and perspectives

In line with the national action plan for resilient and considered water management, the group has set itself an ambitious target of reducing its water consumption by 5% per night and per year over three years.

“We are very proud of this recognition from Atout France, which underlines our strong commitment to more responsible tourism,” declares Philippe de TRÉMIOLLES, Group Managing director and CFO “Sustainable water management is a major issue for our company and for the future of our territories. Thanks to this project and the support of Atout France, we will accelerate our actions and share our best practices with the entire sector.”

A collective commitment

ECG emphasises the importance of the considered management of water resources by involving all stakeholders in the territory, such as local authorities, businesses and residents. The company works closely with the Mixed Syndicates of the Plaine du Roussillon and the Astien (SMETA) to implement solutions adapted to local specificities.
